Responsiveness: We WILL always respond to clients within pre-agreed time limits, or as quickly as possible otherwise. If we say somebody will call, you can be assured that somebody WILL call you.
Skill and Professionalism: Your assignment will carried out by suitably skilled and experienced professionals, to the highest attainable level of excellence, in accordance with the brief and service level agreement.
Empathy. We will listen and understand client needs and wishes and if neccessary we will work with clients to help them find out what they really need.
Our Independance, Integrity & Impartiality.
We are a management consultancy practice, not a guarding contractor or a retailer / installer of security hardware.
If we are retained by a client to provide advice it is our guarantee that the advice will be impartial, objective and in the best interests of the client. We do not seek or accept commisions from third party suppliers when acting for a client.
Where we are retained to provide advice on a particular type of product or service we will always carry out objective comparisons and provide the client with at least three options where it is possible to do so. Where neccesary we will instruct independant technical experts to obtain a specialist opinion.
The Story of the blackthorn.
It is in the nature of all things to protect themselves. Plants, animals, birds and microbes have all found ways of adapting to keep themselves safe from predators, enemies and natural disasters.
Since the dawn of time protection has been a serious priority for mankind. In the earliest times, long before they developed the ability to engineer fences and walls, humans would use naturally occuring features as barriers. One of the most effective natural defences was a blackthorn hedge.
The thick, strong and inpenetrable nature of a Blackthorn hedge with its visciously sharp spikes and deep roots made it ideal as protection agains bears, wolves and enemies.
There is good archaeological evidence that as long ago as the bronze age humans were planting blackthorn hedges around settlements to keep intruders out and domesticated animals in. A form of natural security.
Whilst an encounter with a spikey blackthorn hedge can be painful and frustrating there is another dimension to the bush. Blackthorn is green, naturally occuring and sustainable. It produces fruit once a year, absorbs CO2, emits oxygen into the atmosphere and bears a beautiful rose like flower in the summer.
For thousands of years blackthorn has been a highly resource efficient means of protection which is easy on the eye and has the additional benefit of producing food. To this day security experts and crime prevention officers often recomend using the bush as it adds to the visual beauty of an area, has a 'traditional feel' to it and does not convey an aggressive impression to local communities.
The blackthorn is simple, not overly complex, unpretetious and highly effective.

At Blackthorn we conduct ourselves ethically and we have voluntarily adopted a set of policy values which govern every aspect of the way we do business.

We undertake to maintain the confidentiality of all information, in whatever form, that comes into our posession while working on behalf of clients or preparing for an assignment including the bidding process.
Our dealings with clients will be transparant and clear. You will know what we are going to do for you before we do it and we will have agreed the cost.
Openness and honesty.
Our reports, findings and presentations will be honest and based only on evidentially solid data, observations or assumptions. We will never intentionally mislead a client at any stage in our relationship.
Fairness & Equality.
Our managment team, staff and associates will treat everybody we come into contact with, including each other, politely, fairly and equaly without discrimination on the grounds of race, nationality, religion, gender, age or family connection. Integrity - Conflict of interest.
Every client contract, bid or expression of interest will be subjected to an auditable conflict of interest test leading to a documented 'Conflict of Interest' statement. Wherever a conflict of interest is percieved to be likely this will be discussed with the client before any further work is carried out, notwithstanding our duty of care with regard to confidentiality and discretion.
